Every organization will have turnover and it is imperative that new employees have access to the tools they need. With your SAM site being customized, that can present a challenge. Here are some tips when adding a new user to SAM or becoming a new SAM Lead.
Share the Get Started Series
When your agency first started using SAM, we sent out an email series called Get Started Guides. In these series of guides, we introduced the basics of using SAM and terms that are important to know. This way you could start using the system without needing to customizing it first. So, we suggest sharing the SAM emails that you were sent or sending them the link to all of the Get Started Guides.
Share Your Process
During the SAM Lead Guides, we had you Define Your Process. Then later on during the SAM Launch series, we had you write out your process and make it easily accessible. This information is important not only when customizing your site, but also when you have new users or SAM Leads. Share these files that you have created. We also have suggested you record training session during the SAM Launch. Share these recorded sessions. This way your new leads and users know what to expect in the system that is specific to you.
Create Test Records
Knowledge is just half of the training. It is important to put that knowledge to the test. What good is theory without applicability. Have your new users create test records or modify existing test records. Give them the hands on experience that they will need to accomplish their job. Let them apply what they have learned going through your guides as well as ours. This is also a great time to get feedback and improve on your process as well.
Use the Knowledge Base
Now that SAM Leads have gone through the guides and applying their knowledge, they will need to learn the more advanced features that SAM offers. First, have them start out by creating simple forms and creating new fields. When they get stuck, have them read our knowledge base that offers more complex guides on how to do practically anything in SAM. When you are about to launch a new feature or modify existing features, have the new SAM Lead watch the webinars we presented in the past. These webinar's go from theory to applicability in 2-3 hours. They offer a great wealth of information in a format that is different than our guides.
Join Our Community Calls
All this knowledge that you have written down is great, but do you know what is even better? Learning from others and getting an outside perspective. We have found that those who use most out of the system, join our monthly SAM Talks calls. This is where SAM users across the country join a Zoom call for office hours. We discuss what is happening in each other's system and get free support. This is an important resource for those who want to take advantage of everything that SAM has to offer. Even our staff is amazed at what clients are doing and are learning from them. You can find out when we are having these call by visiting the events page on our website.
