Sometimes a field may need to be converted from one field type to another. This guide will share what happens when you convert from one type to another.
"Yes/No Radio Buttons" are different from a "Radio Button List", because the "Yes/No Radio Buttons" are stored as true/false values.
Text to List: Any values entered in the text field will be converted to a List Item when you Create a new List.
List to Text: Any values entered in the list field will be converted to Text.
List to Radio Button List: Values will be converted and field entry will be changed from a drop down list to a radio button.
List to Checkbox-List: Values will be visible initially on forms, but values are not converted. Field entry will be changed from a drop down list to a checkbox-list.
Radio Button List to Checkbox List: The field will be converted successfully, but all values will be lost for records. This is recommended only if there are no existing values.
Yes/No Radio Button to List: The Yes/No Radio Button field type converts the Yes = 1 and No = 2. When you change the field type to the list, the List Items will be entered as 1 and 2. You can edit the List Item to rename 1 = Yes and 2 = No, then add the other List Items needed.
Yes/No Radio Buttons to Checkbox List: Not possible to convert. Create new field.
Yes/No/Undecided List to Yes/No Radio Button: All values are lost. Do NOT change this, you must create a new field, then you can bulk-update the records to enter the Yes/No values to the new field.
Checkbox Lists: Checkbox Lists cannot be converted to any other field type.
