As a SAM admin, you will want to take time to regularly review who has access to your SAM site. We've made it easier to see this information with a few reports.
View Usage Reports and Logins
- Navigate to Settings > Security Center.
- Several User and Usage reports are linked on the sidebar.
User | Software Usage - Current
This report shows the users in your system with active logins. It displays their last login date and what settings are currently enabled for that user.
This report is updated nightly to reflect the user counts of that day. If you make changes to users, this report will reflect the changes the next day.
Make Sense of the Report
The "As of Date" shows the last time a change was made on the user. This can be a change to any of their settings: Login enabled, Full Admin Permission or enabling Email Importing.
All dates will be the same initial (as of September 2018) since user data tracking is a new feature.
User | Software Usage - Monthly
This report shows the users in your system with active logins for each month after tracking begins. As time progresses, you will be able to see the users counted in calculations for your invoice each month of usage tracking.
Make Sense of the Report
Calculated On shows the day after the Billing period, which is the date invoices are created from usage calculations.
The Start and End Dates are the first and last dates of the Billing Period.
The Last Login Date shows that users last successful login to your system.
Mid-Month Changes
If a user had a login disabled, email importing disabled or change of permission from Full Admin mid-month, that user will still show Yes for the specific setting.
What to look for when managing users:
- Users who have never logged in, or have not logged in within the last 3 months. In these cases, you should likely disable their SAM login.
- Users with admin permissions that probably don't need it.
- Users with email importing that might not need it.
These reports function mostly like other reports. You can sort, search, and filter by different values. Other modifications to these reports will be eliminated with new releases.
