Benefits/Services are used to track any payments given to the Birth Mother that relate to her pregnancy or adoption. Some of these may be expensed to the Adoptive Family depending on your state's rules.
In SAM, open desired Birth Mother record > click Benefits/Services (sidebar) |
Steps to Setup
- Setup the AR | Fee Type(s) for labeling Birth Mother expenses paid by Family
- Setup Service/Benefit Type(s) that are linked to Family fees
- Add Benefit/Service records for the Birth Mother, see A/R records created for the Family
- Update Birth Mother Linked to Case
Setup Fee Type(s) for Birth Mother Expenses
SAM Leads manage the Family's AR | Fee Type List to include List Items that represent Birth Mother Expenses and other fees paid by the Family for the Birth Mother during pregnancy.
In SAM, click Settings > Lists > select list: AR | Fee Type > review List Items |
Setup Service/Benefit Type List
SAM Leads manage the Birth Parent Service/Benefit Type list to sync with the Family's Fee Type List.
Each List Item has an attribute for Linked AR Type, which coordinates with the Family's AR | Fee Type.
In SAM, click Settings > Lists > select list: Birth Parent Service/Benefit Type > review List Items To edit, click edit (pencil) > rename and/or update Linked AR Type as desired > Save To add, click Add List Item > name List Item and update Linked AR Type as desired > Save To delete, click Advanced Options (sidebar) > Delete (List) Item > click X Remove > Ok |
You may have list items that are not linked to a Family AR | Fee Type.
Add Benefit/Service Record(s) for Birth Mother
Use these records to track expenses for the Birth Mother.
In SAM, open desired Birth Mother record > click Birth Mother Benefits/Services (sidebar) > click Add Benefit/Service (sidebar) > enter Benefit/Service Type and other details as desired > Save |
Update Family Case - Birth Mother Linked to Case
Birth Mother Linked to Case makes the connection between a Family and Birth Mother to create A/R Fee records from Benefit/Service records.
Benefits/Service records created before or after entering Birth Mother Linked to Case will be posted.
In SAM, open desired Family record > click Adoptions (sidebar) > click Add Adoption (sidebar) > enter desired details, including Birth Mother > Save Update Case - Birth Mother Linked to Case field with Birth Mother. An Auto Action to update Family Case - Birth Mother Linked to Case field from the Adoption record is/can be enabled. If not in your site, this can be created. |
Locate forms the Case - Birth Mother Linked to Case field is on by opening Field Properties for this field and scrolling down to Forms.
Example Scenario
Our Birth Mother, Susan, has a few records for Benefits/Services entered. When she and the Williamson family are linked, Susan's benefits/services records are entered in the Family's Fees as Birth Parent Living Expenses.
Birth Mother Benefits/Services record:

When a Birth Mother has multiple cases, the Benefits/Services records under the Case she is linked to the Family with will be carried to the Family's corresponding Case Fees.
