A strong password is essential to keeping your SAM site secure. We recommend using a password manager to generate and store strong passwords, so you don't have to remember what it is.
To change your password:
- Login to SAM.
- Search and find your Person record (click the Person tab, search for your name, and click on your name to open your record).
- Click Edit Login / Permissions on the sidebar.
- On the Permissions page, click Reset Password below your login username.
- SAM will prompt you to enter your current password and then enter your new password twice.
- Hit Save and you are good to go!
What is a strong password?
A strong password contains over 8 characters, several symbols, and no ties to your personal information (such as your name, birth year, child or pet's names, etc).

By adding numbers and special characters in addition to letters, a password will take exponentially longer for a hacker to guess.
Strong passwords can be difficult to remember, which is why we're often tempted to use the same one over and over again. This is a serious security risk - if one site that uses that password is hacked, an attacker could potentially use it to login to your SAM site.
